Acclaim Lighting has named Michael Tortora as its eastern regional sales manager. With his design and sales development experience in the lighting industry, Tortora will be responsible for directing commercial sales through distributors, manufacturers rep agencies, contractors and national accounts.
National Sales Manager for Acclaim Lighting, Blaine Engle says, “Michael’s wealth of experience and industry knowledge has already made him a key addition to the Acclaim Lighting family. Our innovations and the increasing demand from our customers led us to look for an addition to our team who will fit in with our philosophy of innovation and service, and it is fortunate that we were able to find someone of Michael’s caliber to fulfill this position. I’m confident that Michael will play a key role in providing and implementing quality solutions for our clients.”
Tortora adds, “I’m excited to start a new challenge within Acclaim Lighting and look forward to working with the team to further develop its relationships and service suite. My experience in the lighting industry continues to feed my passion and has grown stronger throughout the years. In his managerial roles prior to joining Acclaim Lighting, Tortora collaborated with specifiers, agents, distributors, contractors and commercial customers to increase sales as the solutions sales manager, midwest region, for Acuity Brands Lighting Inc., Atlanta. He also served as the company’s northeast regional representative for several of its brands including Peerless, Mark Architectural Lighting, Winona Lighting and Healthcare Lighting.
Previous to joining Acuity, Tortora served as the North American architectural specifications manager for Metalumen, Guelph, Ontario, and as the director of lighting and senior project lighting designer for KlingStubbins, Philadelphia.
Tortora earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Youngstown Statue University, Youngstown, Ohio, and a Master of Fine Arts in Technical Theater/Theater Design and Technology from Wayne State University, Detroit.
