The AABC Commissioning Group (ACG) will conduct a workshop and exam for its Commissioning Authority Certification (CxA) on April 23-24, 2018, in Las Vegas, in conjunction with the CxEnergy 2018 Conference & Expo.
This interactive workshop includes small-group breakout activities, where attendees will use project case studies to develop and discuss samples of key commissioning deliverables. The CxA exam is a 4-hour, closed-book exam that tests approved candidates on their knowledge of the commissioning process, as well as a general understanding of building systems and how commissioning fits in with the rest of the construction process.
The CxA certification is a credential for independent commissioning providers. It demonstrates you are an experienced commissioning provider with an understanding of the commissioning process and possess the organizational, documentation, communication, and team-building skills that are necessary to lead and coordinate a commissioning team and to ensure that the intent of the building owner is achieved.
The CxA program has achieved accreditation by ANSI in 2017. The CxA credential is also now a recognized certification by the Department of Energy’s Better Buildings Workforce Guidelines program, ensuring that the CxA is considered an approved commissioning credential for all federally funded projects.
CxEnergy is an event for building energy management and commissioning. Its technical program provides AIA continuing education credits for the CxA, EMP, LEED and other certifications. Attendees of the CxA Workshop will earn 12 AIA LU continuing education credits.
