Four AIA members have been appointed to serve on four different commissions of the International Union of Architects (UIA) to address specific issues facing the architecture profession globally. The commissions will address professional practice, education, international competitions and sustainability. The commission on sustainable development was approved by the UIA General Assembly in September 2017 in Seoul.
Listed below are the names of the AIA members selected to serve as representatives on the UIA Commissions:
- Marilys Nepomechie, FAIA – Education Commission and UIA/UNESCO Validation Council
- Roger Schluntz, FAIA – International Competitions Commission
- Z Smith, AIA – Commission on Sustainable Development
- James M. Wright, FAIA – Professional Practice Commission
