Alpar Architectural is pleased to announce it has achieved Living Building Challenge (LBC) Declare labels. The Living Building Challenge (LBC) is one of the most rigorous green building standards. One requirement is that products do not contain certain chemicals of concern including heavy metals, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), halogenated fire retardants, petrochemical fertilizers. Manufacturers can communicate chemical information and other environment-related attributes through the LBC Declare label.
Reducing its products’ impacts on human and environmental health was the key driver in Alpar developing deTerra biobased polymer.
In addition to publishing declare labels, Alpar participated in the Health Product Declaration (HPD) pilot project and were one of the first manufacturers to release HPDs for its products. In addition, Alpar participated fully in the release of the wall protection category in Pharos.
Alpar Architectural’s mission is to provide high-performance building products that have the least possible environmental impact. The company manufactures wall and corner guards and sheet wall protection from a variety of environmentally friendly materials including deTerra biobased polymer. DeTerra biobased polymer is PVC-free and petroleum-free, and is the construction industry’s only fire-rated biobased polymer. More than 90 percent biobased and rapidly renewable, it exceeds fire test performance of PVC, ABS and PETG when tested to ASTM E-84, and meets or exceeds most mechanical performance tests relevant to wall protection. We also offer a range of stainless steel and wood profiles.
