Patcraft is supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in its fight to save the lives of children battling cancer and other deadly diseases worldwide through the high-performance flooring brand’s creation of Butterfly Effect. The carpet tile collection is the result of design collaboration with designer, author and thought leader William McDonough.
Butterfly Effect takes inspiration from a butterfly wing to develop a flooring layout pattern that transitions from area to area – beyond the walls of a confined space. In a small-scale installation, that fractal view is offered in an array of styles and colors. In a large-scale installation, a full butterfly wing comes into stunning view.
Butterfly Effect was previewed on Nov. 16, 2013, at the Healthcare Design Conference in Orlando, Fla., and 2 percent of collection sales from Dec. 15, 2013, through Dec. 15, 2018, will go directly to help further the hospital’s lifesaving mission. (Minimum donation $250,000.) Patcraft’s and McDonough’s partnership will further the positive impact of this collection.
St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other deadly diseases. It is because of partners like Patcraft and its Butterfly Effect campaign that no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing and food, because all a family should worry about is saving their child.
The benefits of research at St. Jude also reach far beyond the hospital. St. Jude freely shares the breakthroughs it makes so that doctors and researchers worldwide can use that knowledge to help save thousands more children.
The Butterfly Effect collection offers a unique, sophisticated, modular carpet design for healthcare, corporate and other commercial spaces. The collection uses Patcraft’s Solution Q Extreme fiber, which resists acid-based staining and allows users to clean most spills using nothing more than water. The Cradle to Cradle Certified product, demonstrating how one small decision can have a larger positive impact, is built for high traffic and high usage environments.
