California Building Industry Association (CBIA) will celebrate its 75 anniversary at the upcoming PCBC 2018, June 27-28, at Moscone Center in San Francisco. To commemorate the anniversary, PCBC will deploy an interactive LEGO experience where attendees can take part in building a LEGO community.
CBIA was established in 1943 as a federation of local and regional associations, representing builders at the state level. For years, the group functioned as a lobbying organization. The need for a Sacramento-based trade association was first seen in the depths of World War II. Today, that need is even more critical as many local land use decisions are driven by state laws and regulations. CBIA has grown to include legislative, political, technical, regulatory, and legal departments, as well as a homebuilding tradeshow in the western U.S., PCBC, and the affiliated California Homebuilding Foundation.
In commemoration of its history and milestone anniversary, a LEGO recreation of the CBIA 75th logo will anchor a LEGO building experience in the lower lobby of the Moscone Center. This interactive LEGO experience will demonstrate the importance of community gatherings and engage the homebuilding community to showcase their expertise in a nostalgic experience.
Building stations will be filled with LEGO supplies, everything from building blocks to people and trees, to transform the development into a true community. PCBC show attendees will be encouraged to add their creative spin and engineering expertise to the building of the CBIA LEGO neighborhood.
“CBIA’s 75th anniversary tagline, ‘We Were Built for This,’ naturally lends to creating a LEGO experience where the homebuilding community can contribute to the constructing of an organic, evolving neighborhood throughout the days of the show,” says Dan Dunmoyer, President and CEO, CBIA. “As an industry we come together every day to lend our talents and expertise to the building of communities across the country. This experience allows us to celebrate the collaborative spirit of the industry and provides a platform to share ideas and network.”
