Draper Inc. is celebrating 115 years in business.
As part of the anniversary, Draper embarked on a rebranding to clarify the company’s mission, services, and goals, simplify a business approach, and refresh its relevancy to customer needs. The rebranding includes a new logo, an updated look, and a new website.
“After 115 years in business, we think the best is yet to come,” Draper President John Pidgeon says. “2017 has been our best year ever, and we are continuing to do new things and plan for growth.”
Highlights from 2017 include the installation of custom solar control solutions in the Wilshire-Grand Center in Los Angeles. Draper provided a motorized blind system with 12 inch louvers. These systems were installed in the lower and upper sky lobby (70th through 72nd floors) to control heat buildup and reduce glare. The Wilshire Grand is the tallest building in the U.S. west of the Mississippi River.
Draper will also help the Canadian Parliament meet and debate in comfort. The company designed custom-operated louver systems to provide solar control over a large expanse of glazing above the main debating chamber. This louver system will prevent direct sunlight from penetrating into the chamber.
Founded in 1902 by Luther O. Draper, the Spiceland, Ind.-based company has grown from a regional Indiana window shade manufacturer to a global provider of AV, solar control, and gymnasium solutions. Draper is still owned and managed by Luther O. Draper’s descendants, and still designs and manufactures solutions in Spiceland, even as competitors have taken operations outside the U.S. The company has not laid off an employee in the entire 115 years of its existence.
