Building information modelling (BIM) is a method with comprehensive databases of information that enables the planning, construction and operation of a building, both in the digital and the real world. BIM can also be used by companies working in the sanitary, heating and air conditioning sector. Duravit is expanding its BIM data portfolio (Revit files) and has joined the BIMobject global network. On the BIMobject website and on its own professional portal Duravit offers all the necessary BIM files to download for architects, planners and the sanitary, heating and air conditioning trade. Joining BIMobject has enabled the bathroom manufacturer to expand this offer.
“In the next few years, the BIM file portfolio is to continue expanding”, says Albrecht von der Groeben, chief of international sales, Duravit AG.
Quality assurance and transparency
Digital planning that also includes the construction and operation of the building project enables comprehensive quality assurance. This should lead to greater transparency in the construction phase and, later, to lower operating and maintenance costs. Integral planning based on the BIM method is already required for public projects in the U.S., UK and Spain.
Duravit is now making more than 150 BIM files available on its professional portal and on the BIMobject network. For years, Duravit has been offering a huge portfolio of planning data (dxf, dwg) and now also BIM files to download from pro.duravit.com.
Three-dimensional product visualization
The BIM method enables the presentation of Duravit products in various degrees of detail. In addition to the graphic and planning possibilities, the file also contains product information, such as the name, article number and dimensions. Thanks to 2D and 3D visualizations of the products, the files permit design and modelling of the bathroom in building projects.
The provision of this large volume of BIM files on pro.duravit.com and BIMobject expands the Duravit service offering and enables bathroom design and realization, even in complex bathroom projects. With this step, the bathroom manufacturer is promoting the development of integral planning in the construction industry. At the same time, the company is consolidating its position as a partner for architects and property developers and this is reflected in numerous international projects. These include hotels such as the Alpina Gstaad; large-scale projects such as the Burj Khalifa, The Opus by Zaha Hadid; or public buildings such as the new Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. Duravit’s international project management covers more than 130 countries and offers support in project planning and implementation.
