Several employees from EYE Lighting International, a manufacturer of luminaires, lamps, controls and related lighting products, assisted in making improvements for the residents at Forbes House in Mentor during the annual United Way of Lake County Day of Caring.
For the last three years, EYE Lighting employees have volunteered their skills to helping organizations and businesses within Lake County through the Day of Caring. This year at Forbes House, employees power washed the building, fixed the front awning and spruced up the yard by pulling weeds and making safety improvements on its playground.
Tom Salpietra, president and COO comments: “Our employees are grateful to give back to the community during the Day of Caring which allows them a chance to get out of their normal setting for the day and help those most in need within our community. We know the residents of Forbes House that seek shelter from abusive relationships will greatly benefit from our enhancements, especially the children that enjoy the playground while staying there. It is rewarding that we are able to give them a safe and cheerful place to stay while they rebuild their lives.” Tom also serves on the United Way of Lake County Board of Directors.
EYE Lighting is one of nearly 60 volunteer organizations that had agreed to help out with more than 100 community project requests submitted in 2015 for the Day of Caring coordinated by United Way of Lake County. Community project requests received from churches, nursing homes, schools and nonprofit organizations vary in expansiveness. Through ongoing support, hundreds of volunteers annually paint, scrape, weed, mulch and bring a smile to individuals and groups who are disabled or financially disadvantaged.
