EYE Lighting International, a manufacturer of luminaires, lamps, controls and related lighting products, had several employees assist Faith Community Church with yard work and painting projects during the United Way of Lake County 2014 Day of Caring on Wednesday, June 25th.
This marks the third year that EYE employees have volunteered their skills to helping Faith Community Church. Throughout the day employees mulched bushes and flowerbeds, trimmed trees and chipped an old wood pile as well as painted halls and trim work at the church located at 5885 Hopkins Rd in Mentor.
Tom Salpietra, president and coo commented, “We have chosen the same location the past few years because we really enjoy Mr. Jeffries, our contact at Faith Community Church. It is nice to know that he genuinely appreciates the work that EYE Lighting employees do for his church. The congregation has a majority of elderly members that cannot keep up with some of the tasks. Our employees are grateful to give back to the community and it gives them a chance to get out of their normal setting for the day and help.”
EYE Lighting is one of nearly 60 volunteer organizations that had agreed to help out with over 100 community project requests submitted in 2014 for the Day of Caring coordinated by United Way of Lake County. Community project requests received from churches, nursing homes, schools, and nonprofit organizations vary in expansiveness. Through ongoing support, hundreds of volunteers annually paint, scrape, weed, mulch and bring a smile to individuals and groups who are disabled or financially disadvantaged.
