A chance encounter at a trade show and a mutual company respect has led to a distribution agreement between Flex-Ability Concepts and EuroStone. Flex-Ability Concepts is now selling EuroStone ceiling tiles through its distributor network.
“I met Jaime Barrera and Carlos Rivadeneyra Amescua with EuroStone at the 2017 INTEX Construction Expo, and we realized we have similar ideas about company visions and how to sell and market products,” says Robert Widmer, marketing manager with Flex-Ability Concepts. “Jaime and his team have a product to bring to the market, and our distributors are helping to expand that reach.”
EuroStone is an acoustical ceiling tile made from inorganic volcanic stone with no fiber fillers. The content of the sustainable tile gives it a natural alkalinity that does not allow for mold or bacteria growth. If a pipe bursts in a building or a roof leaks, the water will not affect EuroStone’s stability or performance.
“Architects regularly design structures to prevent sick building syndrome, especially in hospitals, schools and high-humidity areas,” Barrera notes. “With EuroStone, architects and builders have a solution to help create a built environment that is healthy.”
The tiles do not sag or stain, even in high humidity environments, like around pools or in coastal areas. EuroStone ceiling tiles are warranted to remain stable up to 120 F and 100 percent relative humidity when installed in a compatible Chicago Metallic ceiling suspension system. The tiles are fire resistant with Flame 0 and Smoke 0 UL Certifications.
There are 20 models and four standard colors available, and customization is an option. “We can incorporate logos and special designs upon request so schools or corporations can highlight their brand in their design,” Barrera says. “We also can color match for a customized look to enhance school pride in an aquatic center, for instance.”
The tiles are standard at 24- by 24-inches at 7/8-inch thick. They can be used in any type of building and are seen in schools, airports, hospitals and public offices. The product comes with a 40-year warranty.
EuroStone Ceilings was conceived in England more than 20 years ago. Now owned by a 100-percent Mexican company, EuroStone has evolved to be more durable and more sustainable. EuroStone is a sustainable ceiling product that meets green building rating program criteria, such as LEED, because EuroStone is made of non-hazardous, non-fibrous materials and is 100 percent recyclable. EuroStone also is formaldehyde- and asbestos-free.
“Other manufacturers make sustainable claims about their products, but because they contain a percentage of recycled paper, cellulose or rag, these tiles are not sustainable and could grow mold or bacteria,” Barrera adds.
EuroStone can be seen on facilities across the country, such as the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, N.Y.; Brownsville/South Padre Island International Airport, Brownsville, Texas; and Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children, Honolulu.
