Define the verb “sort,” and words like separate, classify and categorize come to mind. That’s great for laundry, but not for humans. Yet, so many of us sort the people around us – labeling and then folding them into stacks based on gender, skin color, political affiliation and sexual orientation. It may not be intentional, but it happens. Bentley Mills urges us to stop sorting and start celebrating what makes each of us different.
STRONG TOGETHER – AND APART
This message doesn’t get lost in the wash with Bentley’s products, named The Sorted Collection. Three patterns – Misfit, Square Peg and Typecast – interact while also maintaining the characteristics that allow each to be atypical.
Despite its name, Misfit is a valued member of the collection. Functioning as the mid-scale option within the trio of patterns, Misfit provides a blend of pattern elements, textural layering and color application. Available in broadloom and tile, Misfit is a solution for a variety of functions and formats.
The old saying “square peg, round hole” finds another meaning with Square Peg. Providing a common ground for square and round elements alike to coexist, Square Peg boasts a construction that focuses on texture as the building block for pattern instead of relying on color as the only form of elaboration for tile and broadloom products.
It may be defined by some as a simple texture but Typecast is a work horse. With each colorway washing from light to dark, Typecast turns the tables and delivers an inverse companion of dark to light – providing the ability to create tile installations in areas that can be pushed beyond the norm.
Available in an array of colors, The Sorted Collection fosters flexibility and coordination. It encourages creative expression. The products are offered in 18-inch by 36-inch and 24-inch by 24-inch NexStep Cushion Tile, AFIRMA II Hardback Tile and AFFIXX Hardback Tile, Bentley’s adhesive-free hook and loop system for modular carpet tile. Misfit and Square Peg are also available in High PerformancePC Broadloom for spaces that require an uninterrupted design statement for the floor. All products in The Sorted Collection are Cradle to Cradle Certified, NSF140 certified, CRI Green Label Plus certified and produced in a LEED-EB:OM Gold-certified manufacturing facility. Along with Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Health Product Declarations (HPDs), The Sorted Collection products also contain Declare labels and have achieved LBC Compliant status through the Living Building Challenge.
