Contract flooring brand Bolon has launched a collection in collaboration with renowned architect ad designer, Patricia Urquiola. BOLON by Patricia Urquiola, which is made up of one elegant design in four colorways, was the result of years of admiration for the Spanish doyenne of design. The collection is a suitable flooring solution for office spaces, hotels or other areas with room for crafted details. The characteristic three-dimensional look of Bolon flooring adds a tactile feel to any interior with the highest technical performance in every square meter.
While working on the collection, Urquiola found a resemblance between the weaving technique of Bolon flooring and the Japanese tradition of Sashiko stitches. By developing, experimenting with, and combining Bolon with Sashiko, the colors, patterns and designs came naturally. BOLON by Patricia Urquiola is a high-end design collection boasting soft colors, characteristic stitching details and patch-like patterns.
Sashiko means craftsmanship, a sense of materiality. When Urquiola started to work on this collection, she began researching as she and her team does for all textiles but applied the approach to weaving techniques. The team wanted to communicate coziness, a feeling of warmth, and Sashiko came up as the leading concept for the collection.
BOLON by Patricia Urquiola consists of one design in four colorways: Nude Sashiko, Grey Sashiko, Light Sashiko, and Sage Sashiko. The flooring, which is made in Sweden, comes in roll, contains recycled material, is easy to maintain, has a high-performance classification 33 Heavy commercial, and a 15-year warranty.
In the U.S., the BOLON by Patricia Urquiola collection has been available since Sept. 15, 2021.
