Steamboat Grand Resort, Steamboat Springs, Colo.
Administrators of the 328-guestroom resort elected to use StoCoat Lotusan for the building’s exterior. StoCoat Lotusan is a flat exterior wall coating modeled on the microstructure of a lotus leaf. The lotus-effect technology imparts hydrophobic properties to the coating, which, alongside self-cleaning properties, provides resistance to soiling, mold, mildew and algae while providing weather- and UV-fade-resistance.

Situated at 6,900 feet and with more than 300 days of sun exposure per year, the 12-year-old, 500,000-square-foot resort was in need of a facelift. The team completed the exterior within a 90-day time period while the resort remained 85 to 90 percent occupied; guests were not interrupted.
