The Retrofit
Inspired by the movement of the Chicago River, the sculptural installations feature colored-glass pebbles meant to represent the reflective and fluid qualities of water. The main lobby features a 60- foot installation that extends from the reception area to the tea area. The installation comprises handblown glass pebbles in two sets of colors suspended at varying distances and lit from above with LEDs. In the Palm Court area of the hotel, a 9-foot-diameter installation in designed in an organic, circular formation and features materials and colors similar to the larger installation.
