Infographic Advises How You Can Prevent the Spread of Germs

Creative Safety Supply, an Oregon-based supplier of industrial safety and Lean manufacturing products, has released an infographic describing how you can prevent the spread of germs.

This infographic illustrates the current best practices that have been established by the CDC for restricting the spread of respiratory illness. If you can’t avoid exposure to illness, there are a few steps you can take to protect both yourself and others.

Avoid Close Contact

Refrain from getting too close to people who are sick, and if you feel sick yourself, keep your distance. People who have a flu virus can spread it to others who are within six feet.

Cover Your Cough

If you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue. Then promptly throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands.

Don’t Touch Your Face

It can be difficult, but the CDC asks that you avoid touching your mouth, eyes, or nose. The mucous membranes on your face are what allow respiratory infections to enter the body.

Stay Home

Don’t go to work or socialize if you feel sick. Even if your symptoms are mild, staying home helps to protect those who are most susceptible to these illnesses.

Clean and Disinfect

Objects and surfaces that are constantly touched should be cleaned on a regular basis with cleaning spray or wipes. Every day, you should disinfect light switches, sinks, door knobs and handles, and keyboards.

Wash Your Hands

The CDC recommends that you wash up for at least 20 seconds. Be sure to scrub the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and underneath your nails. If no soap and water are available, use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol.

Do You Need a Facemask?

If you are feeling well, the CDC recommends that you do not wear a facemask. The use of facemasks should be reserved for health workers, people who are showing symptoms of respiratory illness, and those who are taking care of an ill person in close settings.
