Juno Lighting Group’s LED Cylinder and LED Downlight Honored in Design Competition

Juno Lighting Group announced that its Indy L-Series LED Cylinder and Indy L-Series LED Downlight were selected for recognition—meaning the judges find them worthy of specification—in the 2015 Next Generation Luminaires (NGL) Indoor Solid State Lighting (SSL) Design Competition. In addition to the honor of being a recognized product, the Indy L-Series Cylinder received the designation of “outstanding” for its dimming features.

Presented during LIGHTFAIR International, an annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference, the Indy L-Series Cylinder was among only 12 luminaires awarded with the “outstanding” distinction in both the NGL Indoor and Outdoor SSL Design competitions, which signifies that it stood out significantly in one or more key criteria above other luminaires. The outstanding designation is the highest award that can be received from NGL, replacing the previously awarded best-in-class honor.

The Indy L-Series encompasses a comprehensive collection of commercial grade luminaires. The fully coordinated family of LED luminaires were created with a consistent design, uniform performance and exceptional efficiency across all fixture types and styles, including recessed downlights, wall washers, adjustable accent and cylinder luminaires. Delivering up to 4000 lumens, the Indy L-Series Cylinder offers multiple mounting options and is compatible with several control options. The Indy L-Series Downlight is available in new construction, remodel and retrofit styles with a range of glare-free hyperbolic or traditional parabolic reflectors. Both Indy L-Series entries were submitted for recognition with DMX and Lutron EcoSystem control systems.

In addition to the 2015 NGL Indoor SSL Design Competition, the Indy L-Series has previously been honored with numerous awards that include the 2014 Illuminating Engineering Society Progress Report, 2014 Awards for Design Excellence and the 2013 Architectural Products Product Innovation Awards.

“For nearly 40 years, Juno Lighting Group has delivered on a promise to create top-quality, energy-efficient and innovative lighting solutions,” says Bill Morreal, vice president of marketing, Juno Lighting Group. “Our success in the NGL Indoor competition demonstrates our commitment to bringing cutting-edge technology to our customers, and we’re honored to be recognized for our Indy L-Series luminaires.”

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), the NGL Indoor SSL Design Competition recognizes and promotes excellence and technical innovation in the design of energy-efficient LED luminaires for commercial lighting applications. The judges evaluate each entry according to a criteria of attributes such as color quality, luminance, light distribution, glare control, serviceability and replacement, energy efficiency, power quality, lumen maintenance, dimming, value and aesthetic appearance and style.
