LEDucation completes its ninth consecutive show in New York City with steady attendance despite the snow and weather issues that hindered the New York City and surrounding areas.
With more than 230 manufacturers from the U.S., Canada, and Europe exhibiting their latest Solid State Lighting technologies and products, LEDucation hosted its largest event in its nine-year history. The two-day educational event and table-top expo attracted 1,500 attendees within the first two hours of opening despite the record snow fall and closing of roads and some public transportation. As one of the industries largest events dedicated to LED technology, the annual event historically draws thousands of lighting designers, interior designers, architects, engineers, students, facility managers, building owners from New York and surrounding areas, such as, Boston and Philadelphia. With an overall attendance of more than 3,000, LEDucation has earned its reputation as being one of the “don’t miss events” in the lighting industry, drawing attendees from as far as the west coast and Canada.
As a preeminent educational event presented the Designers Lighting Forum of NY (DLFNY), LEDucation offered a record number of 17 accredited sessions. Courses covered topics in basics of LED lighting, healthcare lighting, controls, designing with OLED, lighting design, codes and compliance, and more. All sessions were designed to offer a versatile selection of beginner, intermediate and advanced courses with the special architectural lighting presentations each morning focused on the Interior Designer followed by a special docent guided tour of the Expo show floor. To continue to share the educational sessions with those that were not able to attend, all presentations from LEDucation are available for viewing online with daily session videos to be posted on the LEDucation website.
The LEDucation 9 event covered a record 29,400 net square feet of the Sheraton NY Times Square hotel and featured two new events—“Mission Control” and “Light It Up” reception. The exhibit space of more than 230 exhibiting companies sold out within one month of opening registration and currently more than 90 percent of LEDucation 9 exhibitors have already pre-registered to exhibit during the 10th anniversary event—LEDucation 10.
