Legrand North and Central America has outlined a series of ongoing partnerships and technology initiatives that will advance IoT development for residential and commercial applications. In 2018, Legrand is leveraging 22 million connection points in existence and over $350M in annual sales from connected devices.
Since launching the IoT program, ELIOT, in 2016, Legrand continues to announce new connected products and formed strategic partnerships with companies including Amazon, Cisco, Ivani, Samsung, and Marriott.
The company discussed three major areas of focus that are driving advancement in IoT:
- Smart Technology Outside of the Home: Intelligent devices and voice control technology which are becoming ubiquitous are finding their ways into commercial applications. Legrand announced a strategic partnership with Marriott International and Samsung to create an IoT-powered hotel room for the guest experience. Hotel guests will see elements of the technology that results from this partnership in hotel rooms within the next five years.
- Interoperability: The Legrand developer program, Works with Legrand, helps existing and potential new partners develop interoperable solutions to create an ecosystem of smart devices. The program which already features 20 partnerships is open to start-ups, manufacturers and service providers.
- IoT Lighting the Way: Connected products extend beyond our traditional expectations and extend to areas such as commercial lighting. Wireless Digital Lighting Management (DLM) solutions from Legrand Wattstopper offer components that are scalable and backward compatible with wired DLM, and offer security measures to provide secure wireless lighting systems. Further, its wireless DLM systems work on open standards to allow for IoT integration.
“We have reached a inflection point where we have shifted our focus from educating the market about the opportunities of IoT to introducing real technology solutions in a variety of residential and commercial applications,” states Manny Linhares, director of IoT strategy, Legrand North and Central America. “Legrand remains committed to our goal of providing products with autonomous capabilities that deliver end-user value and deliver on the promise of IoT.”
