Saniflo U.S.A. has unveiled the next generation in its Sanicubic range of preassembled, simplex and duplex lift stations; the Sanicubic Vortex Series, featuring an impeller that delivers clog-free handling of solids up to 2-inches in diameter. The series is engineered for rugged-duty applications that involve larger or harder objects than what is typically flushed down a toilet.
Like the original Sanicubic 1 and Sanicubic 2 models, the Vortex Series is intended to provide above-floor drainage for multiple plumbing fixtures for an entire residential or commercial structure, thus eliminating the need for pit installations.
Also like the previous series, two models are available: the Sanicubic 1VX, equipped with a single, 1.5-horsepower motor (simplex) and the Sanicubic 2VX, equipped with two such motors (duplex). Both lift stations are capable of discharging through 2-inch or 4-inch rigid pipe and offer a shut-off head of 43 feet. Both are meant to be connected to a high voltage (220V-240V).
Powerful vortex technology: The difference between the two types of lift station can be seen in the way their pumps handle drainage. The Sanicubic 1 and Sanicubic 2 use a heavy-duty, stainless-steel blade to grind up waste and sanitary products, pumping them to a sewer line or septic tank as a fine slurry.
The Sanicubic 1VX and 2VX use a specially designed pump impeller to create a vortex action as the effluent enters the enclosure. This technology keeps solids away from the impeller as it turns, pushing waste rapidly through the pump and to the discharge pipe. In doing so, the possibility of clogging is reduced.
The Sanicubic 1 and Sanicubic 2 grinder systems are designed to handle conventional waste and even sanitary products, according to Saniflo CEO Regis Saragosti.
Up to 250 gpm flow rate: The maximum height either pump can discharge is 36 feet, using 2-inch diameter pipe; and 20 feet, using 4-inch pipe. Flow rates vary, depending on the discharge-pipe diameter and the elevation the flow must overcome, ranging from 26 gallons per minute at 36 feet of head with a 2-inch pipe and one motor operating; to 250 gpm at 3 feet of head with a 4-inch pipe and both motors operating. Both systems are designed to work with either a municipal sewer system or a septic tank.
The waterproof enclosure for both units meets IP68 standards, making it possible for the systems to remain fully operational when submerged in water. Dimensions for the Sanicubic 1VX (capacity: 15.9 gallons) are 27-5/8 inches wide, 21-5/8 inches deep, and 19-7/8 inches high; for the Sanicubic 2VX (31.7 gallons), 36 inches wide by 28 inches deep by 29-5/8 inches high.
White-glove servicing: Featuring removable circular panels on top, the IP68 enclosure permits ready access to every major component inside. The result is cleaner servicing than conventional, below-floor systems whose maintenance can entail wading into a pit full of waste.
The Sanicubic 1VX and the Sanicubic 2VX both employ an internal air pressure switch for automatically cycling the units on and off.
Both units also come equipped with a wired control panel, as well as external audible and visual LED indicator alarm in the event that a pump experiences overload or ceases to operate.
