The Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA) has added Tom Batterbee of Nucor Buildings Group, a division of Nucor Corp., to its board of directors.
“Tom’s lifelong industry experience will be a great asset to the association and we are pleased to welcome him to the board,” says MBMA General Manager Tony Bouquot. “Nucor Building Systems, a Nucor Buildings Group company, has long been an MBMA member and has a proud tradition in the industry.”
Currently, Batterbee serves as vice president and general manager of the Nucor Buildings Group division in Brigham City, Utah. He began his metal building career in 1989 as a detailer at the Nucor Building Systems plant in Indiana. He moved up through the ranks during his 18-year tenure there, and was promoted to general manager of Nucor Building Systems in Terrell, Texas, in 2007. Between 2015 and 2019 he served as vice president and general manager of Vulcraft of New York, another Nucor Corp. subsidiary, in Chemung, New York. Batterbee holds degrees in architectural engineering and business from ITT Technical Institute and Tri-State University, respectively.
Serving as the voice of the metal building systems industry, MBMA provides leadership, research and education for anyone interested in metal building systems and their benefits. Led by the board of directors and working through its various committees, MBMA members contribute thousands of hours of service each year to help make this sophisticated and versatile building solution the top choice for low-rise commercial construction. MBMA’s committees—which include technical, energy, fire protection, insurance, safety and sustainability—lead the association’s efforts to set the standard for designing, manufacturing and erecting these structures.
