Mitsubishi Electric’s Elevator and Escalator Division Expands to Greater Boston

The Elevator and Escalator Division of Mitsubishi Electric US Inc., headquartered in Cypress, California, is pleased to announce its expansion in greater Boston. Due to growth in the area and new projects with WS Development in the Seaport neighborhood, the Elevator and Escalator Division is growing its Boston footprint and has also moved offices to Woburn, Mass., to better serve customers.

Mitsubishi Electric was recently selected by WS Development, one of the largest privately owned retail development firms in the country, to install elevator systems in its latest Boston Seaport project at 400 Summer Street. The 625,000-square-foot building will be home to Foundation Medicine, which will occupy 580,000-square-feet office and lab space and will also host 30,000 square feet of neighborhood retail. The project is currently under construction, with occupancy expected in 2023.

“WS Development is very pleased to partner with Mitsubishi Electric on our elevator operations at the new, state-of-the-art 400 Summer Street building in Boston’s Seaport. We have great respect for Mitsubishi Electric’s expertise and capabilities, making them the ideal partner for this project,” says Katherine Sumner, senior property manager, Seaport at WS Development.

“We’re thrilled to expand our presence in the Boston area and partner with WS Development on 400 Summer Street,” says Mike Eden, director, eastern region, Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc. Elevator and Escalator Division. “We worked closely with the team to see how Mitsubishi Electric could deliver the best product suited for their requirements. Ultimately, there was agreement that Mitsubishi Electric offered the optimal elevator system for the project. We hope this collaboration is the first of many.”
