In an effort to showcase the work being performed by its member-contractors throughout the country, the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) has launched the Project Excellence Award, a new program that will recognize companies for their commitment, professionalism and ingenuity in delivering an electrical project across 11 difference market sectors.
NECA will begin accepting submissions for the 2017 Project Excellence Award on Jan. 1, 2017. Awards will be based on whether the electrical/technology portion of the project is valued under or over $1 million for each market sector, except for overhead transmission and substation/interconnection, and must be based on projects completed in 2016. The sectors include:
- Commercial/Institutional
- Design Build
- Educational
- Energy Solutions/Green Building
- Health Care
- Industrial
- International
- Overhead Transmission
- Residential
- Street Lighting/Traffic Signal
- Substation/Interconnection
Mir Mustafa, NECA’S executive director of business development, said there are several reasons for presenting the awards, including increasing the awareness among customers and stakeholders of the work and expertise NECA contractors bring to every job.
“They also establish the depth and breadth of the type of work NECA contractors are doing throughout the country,” he states.
Mustafa added that the awards promote leadership, creativity, innovation, and the use of construction methods and technologies and recognize the entire company for the team effort it takes to deliver a project while having the potential to inspire the rest of the construction industry.
Nominations for projects completed in 2016 will be accepted until March 31. The first set of awards will be presented at NECA’s annual convention, scheduled for October in Seattle. For more information on program rules and an entry form, visit this website.
