The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has published NEMA VT P1-2018 The Value of Volt-VAR Technologies. This white paper covers the cost benefits of Volt-VAR optimization and control technologies, integration of distributed energy resources, and industry regulations and standards.
“Volt-VAR technology can perform the same functions as distributed generation at a much lower cost, such as peak load reduction.” Pat Avery, VP Power Grid Automation, G&W Electric and Chair of the Distribution Automation Section.
This white paper was developed for electric utilities by the NEMA Distribution Automation Section, which represents manufacturers of the components and systems used to measure, monitor and control electrical loads on distribution systems and at distribution substations.
NEMA VT P1-2018 is available as an electronic download on the NEMA website.
