THE RETROFIT
Built in the early 1920s for industrial uses, two buildings at the entry of Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood have become the national headquarters for Meeting Tomorrow, a provider of technology, services and onsite support for nationwide corporate meetings and events.
By leveraging the natural features of the property—Chicago River setting, exposed brick, grand bowstring trusses, 30-foot-high ceilings, skylights and other architectural details—the team could take a minimalist approach to other building finishes.
All appliances are ENERGY STAR, and all lighting is connected to a sensor system that turns off lights when enough natural light is detected.
