Materials
Trex Commercial Products installed custom railings that outline the rooftop terrace, contemporary atrium staircase connecting the first and second floors, and the interior landings and overlooks.
Trex Commercial Products provided a dry glaze Track Rail system with glass infill. The glass and stainless-steel system added a modern touch to the historic renovation. A highlight of this project is the curved landing, which required rolled base shoe, cladding, top cap and glass to achieve the desired radius.

The Retrofit
The Baker Center, a multi-tenant office property, includes four buildings located on the corner of Marquette Avenue and South Eighth Street in downtown Minneapolis. Dating back to 1925, the property was known as the “Street Car” or “Terminal Block” because it was proposed to be developed as the main terminal for all city and suburban streetcars. Its 2017 major renovation intended to maintain the history of the building and its Art Deco style. Today, the building, which houses retail, restaurant and office spaces, features a new street-level entrance with a 2-story atrium, skyway lobby extension and a state-of-the-art media wall.
