Ply Gem has announced that the replacement vinyl window, Ply Gem Windows Premium Series, has received a Consumers Digest Best Buy. Highlighted in the magazine’s October 2016 issue “Clear Winners” section, the window series was selected as a midrange price best buy in the vinyl replacement window category. A handful of winners are carefully selected following review of dozens of window models.
From the evaluation, Consumers Digest notes that the Ply Gem Windows Premium Series “includes polyurethane insulation in its frame, which helps to give this model standard performance specifications among windows that are in this price range”.
The Ply Gem Windows Premium Series standard glass package U-factor rating is 0.29 and standard SGHC (solar heat gain coefficient) rating is 0.32. With other glass package options such as HP PS (passive solar), HP2+ or HP2Max, the U-Factor rating is as low as .24. The Ply Gem Premium windows are within the ENERGY STAR Version 6 requirements for the north, north-central, south-central and southern climate zones. The series is offered in double hung, casement, awning and sliding window operating styles, with additional glass packages and a range of interior/exterior color options.
“A Consumers Digest Best Buy Award for our vinyl window is a testament to the research, development, testing and innovation that goes behind the products we manufacture,” said Mark Montgomery, vice president, marketing, Ply Gem Windows.
A Consumers Digest Best Buy is one that merits special attention from consumers based on the combination of eight criteria: performance, ease of use, features, quality of construction, warranty, efficiency, styling, and maintenance and service requirements.
