Polyurethane Foam Adhesive Resolves Water-Resistant OSB Challenges

Over the last 10 years, moisture resistant OSB products with a water-resistant formulation (to prevent water absorption and swelling over time) have replaced several traditional OSB panels. However, these panels are more difficult for traditional subfloor adhesives to adhere to – causing adhesives to fail and leading to an increase in floor squeaks.

DAP and Georgia-Pacific (GP) worked together to find a solution, the DAP SMARTBOND Subfloor Construction Adhesive.

Following a full gamut of product testing, GP recommends DAP SMARTBOND Subfloor Construction Adhesive for use with its DryMax High-Performance OSB. DryMax OSB required an adhesive that would deliver a long-lasting bond.

A polyurethane foam adhesive, DAP SMARTBOND:

  • Provides 8-times the coverage of cartridge adhesives, allowing users to do more with less
  • Is up to 25 percent faster to apply than traditional cartridge construction adhesives
  • Delivers a bond on plywood, OSB and moisture resistant OSB panels
