Securitron, an ASSA ABLOY Group brand, announces its EcoPower power supply. EcoPower reduces power supply standby power consumption to only 8.5mW (0.0085W), a 99 percent decrease compared to current switching power supplies. With such a small footprint, EcoPower is both easy to install and aesthetically pleasing. It can be conveniently recessed into drywall, mounted in a drop ceiling or surface mounted above the door.

EcoPower is GreenCircle certified to dramatically lower total door power consumption by up to 99 percent, reducing it from 20W or more to a mere 0.3W when used with a low-power lock. Similar to a plug-in hybrid car, EcoPower draws on its battery to power the door’s low-power electrified lock, drawing energy from the wall to charge the battery as needed, usually less than once a day.

As the industry drives toward more efficient locking solutions, people are starting to pay attention to the fact that the power supply often becomes the leading cause of energy consumption. Today’s architectural market is beginning to explore sustainable security solutions that are efficient and easy to integrate without disrupting design, and EcoPower is a solution.
