The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute has made the Cradle to Cradle Certified Version 4 draft standard available for a second period of public review from July 20 – Sept. 2, 2020. The new draft standard incorporates changes made following consideration of stakeholder feedback received during the initial public consultation period in 2019.
Cradle to Cradle Certified provides a framework for designing and manufacturing safe, circular and responsible products and materials that maximize health and well-being for people and planet.
Designers, manufacturers and brands can use Cradle to Cradle Certified Version 4 to power innovation and drive systems change by:
- Ensuring materials are safe for humans and the environment
- Enabling a circular economy through product and process design
- Safeguarding climate, air, water and soil
- Protecting human rights and contributing to a fair and equitable society
“We are delighted to share the updated draft of Cradle to Cradle Certified Version 4 with our Cradle to Cradle community for further review and comment,” says Dr. Susan Klosterhaus, Institute vice president of science and certification.
“The input we’ve received throughout this process has helped us develop a rigorous, science-based platform for enabling future-focused companies to achieve and verify their own sustainable development objectives,” Klosterhaus says. “Stakeholders around the world are now invited to share their comments on revisions made to the draft standard. We look forward to drawing upon this further feedback to finalize Cradle to Cradle Certified Version 4 for release later in the year.”
The Institute is providing an overview of Cradle to Cradle Certified Version 4 via webinars on July 23 and 24. Read more information, review and comment on the updated Cradle to Cradle Version 4 draft standard.
