The SAP Innovation Center and HanaHaus in Newport Beach, Calif., received a 2019 REmmy Award for Innovative Workplace less than 50,000 square feet from the Southern California chapter of CoreNet Global, the premier association for corporate real estate professionals. Tangram Interiors was a member of the team engaged for the project, led by the design firm of H. Hendy Associates.
The 16,000-square-foot redesign of a historic bayfront landmark in Newport’s Marina Lido Village seamlessly blends two segments: a dynamic co-working environment open to the public plus a research and development center for the company. SAP Innovation Center is home to the company’s Southern California-based researchers, engineers, designers and developers. HanaHaus features myriad indoor and outdoor workspaces infused with the latest technology and functional design with the goal of connecting industry peers, clients and like-minded individuals. It also transforms into a public event space for workshops, TED-style talks, lectures and more.
Tangram provided all furniture and walls for the facility. A focus on open spaces and collaborative areas resulted in an approach that emphasized ancillary furniture rather than traditional workstations. The walls were Muraflex, with a wide range of furniture including tables, seating and accessories from Steelcase, Coalesse, Viccarbe and Davis.
“It was very exciting to participate in transforming an iconic structure in a gorgeous environment to meet the needs of a visionary organization like SAP,” says Tangram Account Executive Sue Pursche. “It is now a showcase for collaboration, creativity and interconnection in the region.”
The annual REmmy Awards recognize and honor outstanding achievement in corporate real estate. The awards go to professionals and teams who demonstrate standards of excellence and best practices in the field, celebrating stellar examples of the profession and the positive impact of the workplace.
Tangram provides solutions that foster workplace satisfaction, collaboration and productivity while enhancing the client’s brand and culture. In addition to its core contract furniture offering, the company operates multiple additional business units for a comprehensive approach to commercial interiors. This range of services allows for top-to-bottom involvement that integrates each aspect of planning, design and installation.
