THE RETROFIT
The growing congregation requested a new wedding chapel that could also serve as a multipurpose area for community meetings, funerals or spill over from the main auditorium during church services. A space that remained untouched following a recent addition and renovation, known as The Loft, was the perfect solution to meet the congregation’s needs.
The loft’s second-story area was closed off and converted into offices while the 2-story space below became the chapel. The inspiration for the 250-seat chapel was derived from the outdoor performance area with its heavy-timber framing. The use of reclaimed barn wood and faux timber were mixed throughout, providing the timber look without compromising the structural integrity of the roof. Two large rustic chandeliers along with strategically placed accent lighting highlight the heavy-timber construction.
There is a separate beverage bar and soft seating area with a stone fireplace for a more intimate setting adjacent to the chapel area. The new chapel is reserved several times a week for day and evening functions, as well as weekend weddings.
