Simpson Strong-Tie announces it will make a $15,000 donation to assist in disaster relief and recovery efforts following the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that shook Ecuador. In addition, it will make a $10,000 donation to assist in disaster relief efforts following the severe and widespread flooding in the Houston area.
The Ecuadorian earthquake, which was centered about 17 miles southeast of Muisne, shook the northwestern coast of Ecuador and resulted in hundreds of lives lost, thousands injured, and the displacement and homelessness of several thousand people.
Flooding in the Houston area has resulted in seven deaths thus far, the displacement of several hundred people and has caused an estimated $14 million in damage.
The donations will be given to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and will aid in providing food, shelter and other assistance to those affected by these disasters.
“It’s always with great sadness to hear of such devastating news,” said Simpson Strong-Tie CEO Karen Colonias. “We are grateful to have the opportunity to offer aid, and we hope these donations bring some support and comfort to those affected by these disasters.”
