The Wallcoverings Association presented The Justin Allman Award to Al Rothschild, president of MDC Wallcoverings. The award is presented each year to an industry representative whose long-lasting contributions have helped to shape the future of the wallcoverings industry. Rothschild received the award at the WA’s Annual Meeting in Clearwater, Fla. The award was established in 1946 and is named for the founder of the Wallcoverings Wholesalers Association, the WA’s predecessor organization.
Rothschild shared his time and that of MDC employees with the WA during the last 50 years to work on the organization’s board of directors and initiatives, such as the development of the NSF/ANSI 342 Sustainability Assessment, seminars for WA members, and outreach and education for consumers and specifiers. Under Rothschild’s leadership, MDC also has contributed financially to the WA through company membership and sponsorships of association events.
“The wallcoverings industry is fortunate to have leaders like Al Rothschild, who set the standard in terms of his commitment and tireless efforts to improve business practices and enhance the industry’s sustainability profile,” says Sean Samet, executive director of the Wallcoverings Association.
“It is a great honor to be recognized,” Rothschild says. “I share this award with MDC’s wonderful employees whose diligent professionalism, volunteerism and example make this industry an exceptional place to work.”
