Shildan launches an architectural “textile” product called Fabrik. Negating the need to lay brick and mortar or mount individual panels to a structural plane, Fabrik affixes to any wall in prefabricated sheets. Fabrik creates a façade or interior screen.
Each Fabrik sheet is made of a flexible stainless steel framework. The prefabricated sheets can be installed in geometric patterns for creative flexibility. The inset elements can be terracotta, glass, wood, or a variety of other materials, all customizable in density, color, and finish, and each offering an aesthetic suitable to any project.
With less than 10% modification of components, the prefabricated sheets can also be purposed for pavement, roofing, shade screens, pergolas and more. Fabrik allows for many constructive applications in both commercial and residential design.
Additionally, Fabrik offers the following key benefits:
•Sustainability – Fabrik’s production facility uses: biogas (methane) extracted from adjacent landfills; heat from its kilns to power ceramic dryers; daylight for illumination; ocean shipping (the least impactful form of freight); and regionally sourced materials. Fabrik’s dry joint technology allows for the convenient separation of materials, facilitating recycling.
•Easy storage/transportation – Fabrik sheets can be folded in pallets or rolled into coils for storage and transportation
•Easy maintenance – Because Fabrik is a mortarless system large swaths can be collected for repair. Also included with every order is an element tool which allows for the replacement of single element units rather than whole sections, saving material and time.
•Efficient construction – Application in sizable sheets and by means of a crane accelerates construction.
