GAF Restarts Glass Mat Plant Following Facility Upgrades

GAF has announced the restart of its glass mat plant in Shafter, Calif., following a multi-million dollar upgrade to the facility. The plant produces a fiberglass substrate called glass mat, a key component in manufacturing rooftop shingles, which are also produced by GAF in Shafter.

“We are thrilled to bring the glass mat plant at our Shafter facility back online to support increasing demand for high-quality roofing solutions,” says Jim Schnepper, president of GAF. “We have been proud members of the Shafter community for many years, and are pleased to continue investing in our people and the places where they work and live to help drive the roofing industry forward.”

“As an employer in Shafter, we could not be happier to support our community and our talented team as the glass mat plant begins to operate at full capacity once again,” says Nigel Abraham, Shafter general manager, GAF. “This represents our commitment to our community and our customers, and we are excited to play a bigger role in our local economy and the roofing industry.”

GAF produces a range of commercial and residential roofing and waterproofing solutions, with a large network of distributors and certified roofing contractors in North America. For more information about GAF residential roofing products, please visit the website.
