Following the introduction of its System M center pivot hinge and closer, FritsJurgens has introduced another line of closers, the System M-FA. Developed and tested over the past year to meet the requirements of ANSI/ICC A117.1 for accessible buildings, the System M-FA opens up possibilities for designers and specifiers seeking to include large doors into their projects requiring universal access.
System M-FA allows for large doors meeting the technical requirements of ANSI/ICC A117.1-2017:
- Door closing speed: Minimum closing speed of 5 seconds from 90- to 12-degrees, chapter 404.2.7.
- Opening force: The force for pushing or pulling the pivot door open is a maximum of 5 pounds (22.2 N), chapter 404.2.8.
System M-FA can support doors weighing up to 660 pounds and of almost any height and width. As with all System M pivots, the technology is mortised into the door itself, eliminating the need for floor or ceiling installations.
Other features and benefits of the System M line of pivots include: hold-opens at 90- and -90-degrees; adjustable closing speed; hydraulic back check; maintenance free; suitable for exterior and interior doors; double acting or single acting doors; adjustable top pivot for in-field vertical adjustment and more. Additionally, an optional power-transfer top pivot allows for electrification of the door leaf.
And, of course, installers appreciate the System M, as it eliminates the need to cut into the floor for a bucket closer, saving both time and money on the install.
