The Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA), a nonprofit international organization that serves to expand and improve the use of tilt-up as the preferred building system, is sponsoring several educational events at the 2013 World of Concrete.
To be held in Las Vegas, Feb. 4-8, 2013, World of Concrete is the industry’s only annual international event dedicated to the commercial concrete and masonry construction industries. Featuring indoor and outdoor exhibits with the industry’s leading suppliers, World of Concrete presents a variety of new products and technologies, as well as several educational opportunities.
The 2013 event marks the 24th year that the Tilt-Up Concrete Association will be co-sponsoring the World of Concrete. Once again, the TCA will provide a line-up of important educational events including:
- “Modern Tilt-Up Contractors Demonstrate Historical Craftsmanship” (World of Concrete Seminar Code WE126): Feb. 6 from 8:30-10 a.m., Mitch Bloomquist, TCA project manager, will explain how the popularity and continued growth of tilt-up concrete construction provides opportunities for a renewed focus on craftsmanship. This presentation will highlight how the satisfaction of clients and the pride among its crew are recognized and related to craftsmanship.
- Tilt-Up Certification Seminar and “ACI Tilt-Up Certification Exam” (World of Concrete Code TH53 and THTUS): Feb. 7 from noon-4 p.m.; exam is from 4-6 p.m. Successful completion of this exam will award participants with the distinction as an ACI/TCA Certified Tilt-Up Technician and completing the paperwork for work experience will upgrade participants to an ACI/TCA Certified Tilt-Up Supervisor.
- TCA Annual Meeting and Awards Breakfast: Feb. 7 from 7:30-10:30 a.m. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Las Vegas Convention Center in the South Hall, Room 222. This year’s TCA Annual Meeting will feature a keynote address from Edward J. Sullivan, vice president and chief economist for the Portland Cement Association. The event will also feature the presentation of the TCA Professional Awards. The cost to attend the meeting is $85 for TCA members and $105 for non-members.
